Ronald Gene Krob

Ronald Gene Krob, 79, of Fort Collins, Colorado, passed from this life on July 17, 2022 surrounded by his family at his home.

Ron was born on April 27, 1943 in Belleville, Kansas to parents Ed and Joan Krob. He grew up in Agenda, Kansas, where he graduated from high school in 1961. He then attended Fairbury Community College where he studied to become a radio and television engineer before being drafted into the Navy in 1964. Ron trained to be an electronics, radar and cryptography technician and spent 4 years aboard the U.S.S. Conway and the U.S.S. Dupont.

After being honorably discharged, Ron took an engineering job at a radio station in Salina, Kansas, where he met Gloria Schultz. The two were married in 1969 in Ellsworth, Kansas. They lived for a short time in Lincoln Nebraska before Ron's job took them back to Manhattan, Kansas where their daughters Heather, Heidi and Val were born.

In 1975, the family moved to Fort Collins, Colorado, where Ron continued working as an engineer at a series of radio stations throughout Kansas and Colorado. In 1988 their 4th daughter Laurel was born. Ron then started his own business building and maintaining radio and television equipment. His work led him to travel throughout several states and internationally to Cyprus, Nigeria, and South America. He worked for local Fort Collins stations as well, which included building the radio towers on Horsetooth mountain.

Ron was a quiet, thinking man, with a brilliant mind for math and electronics. He was an avid cyclist, often riding up Rist Canyon and Cameron Pass and enjoyed hiking with his family. Ron also took great pleasure in building and restoring radios, cars and furniture.

Ron is preceded in death by his daughter Heidi and survived by his wife, Gloria Krob; daughters, Heather (Mike) Selbert, Valerie (David) Smalley, and Laurel (Zachariah) Peden; grandchildren, Michael, Justin, Joshua, Caleb, and Isaac; sister, Marilyn Black; as well as many extended family members.
