Rose Joanna Paulsen was born on August 21, 1911, on a farm northeast of Hatfield, MN. She was the sixth of ten children born to Theodore and Alvena Paulsen. She grew up and attended school in Pipestone County and was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Rose married Glenn P. Groth, also of Pipestone, on December 26, 1931. Rose and Glenn were blessed with two daughters, Joanne and Patricia. She loved her family and was a dedicated homemaker. She made many of her family's clothes, enjoyed gardening and was able to create excellent meals, as well as make the very best sweet rolls anywhere. And her coffee rings were always the first things bid on at the Church Christmas Bazaar. Rose led a very dignified Christian life. She was an active member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church where she sang in the choir and held various offices in the Ladies Guild. Rose served her Lord and church in Minnesota, until she moved to Fort Collins, CO in 2000. In Fort Collins she lived at the Good Samaritan Village and was a member of Peace with Christ Lutheran Church when she died on October 6, 2008 at the age of 97. She is now a member of the Church Triumphant and continues to worship our Lord Jesus Christ in Heaven. Rose is survived by and will be missed greatly by her two daughters and their husbands, Joanne and Richard Johannsen and Patricia and Lowell Kayser, eight grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and countless neighbors and friends who loved her. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, nine sisters and brothers, one grandson, one great grandson, and several nieces and nephews. Those of us who remain thank God for her Christian example and for the great blessing she was to all of us during her long life on this earth.
