Roy Donna Kilkenny

Roy and Donna Kilkenny, of Ft. Collins, Colorado, passed away this week. They were both receiving care at Poudre Valley Hospital in Ft. Collins. Donna J. Kilkenny passed away on Tuesday evening, April 21st, 2009. She was followed in dealth by her husband Roy, on Friday morning, April 24th, 2009. Donna was born on October 30, 1923, in Rocky Ford, Colorado, to Billy and Marie Smith. She was 85. Roy was born on July 31st, 1927, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Oren and Georgie Kilkenny. He was 81. Roy began his career in Education as a teacher in Concord, California, and retired from the Department of Defense Dependents Education System in 1980. Donna was a Registered Nurse and worked in that capacity in San Francisco, California and Pueblo, Colorado. They were married on July 31st, 1947, in Rocky Ford, Colorado. Together they raised three sons, Michael, Timothy, and Patrick Kilkenny. In the fall of 1957 Roy became employed by the Department of Defense school system and together they moved to Germany where they raised their family and traveled extensively until their retirement in 1980. Roy and Donna are remembered as loving parents and grandparents, devoted to family and charitable causes through the Methodist Church, and devout Christians. Their many interests included travel, gardening, making and cultivating friendships (of which they had many!), and traveling the Colorado Rockies. Roy and Donna are survived by their three sons, Michael and his wife Linda, Timothy and his wife Susan, and Patrick and his wife Laindy, and their five grandchildren, Alison, Mia, Cassandra, Andrew, and Cade. Roy and Donna will be deeply missed by family and friends alike. A memorial service is planned for Friday, May 1st, 2009 at the Christ United Methodist Church of Ft. Collins, Colorado. The service begins at 11:00 a.m.. Donations in the name of Roy and Donna Kilkenny can be made to the Colorado Boys' Ranch of La Junta, Colorado.
