Rudolph R. Yakel

Jan 22, 1926 — Jan 11, 2013

Rudolph R. "Rudy" Yakel
Rudy was born 1/22/1926 and died at home on 1/11/2013.
Rudy attended schools in Mead and Berthoud, and left school after completing the 10th grade, to help at home. Rudy later went to work in Denver, where he met Erma Duby at a local dance. They were married and celebrated their 68th anniversary last March.
Rudy joined the Army in 1945. He was assigned as an MP Officer in Germany during the Nuremberg trials because he was fluent in German. After his discharge, he and Erma moved to Fort Collins where they raised four sons. Rudy worked for and retired from Public Service Co. (now Xcel Energy).
After his retirement he took up Golf and Bowling. He enjoyed many golf outings with his sons and was active in the Men's and the Seniors Bowling Leagues.
Rudy enjoyed taking day trips to Rocky Mountain National Park to view the wildlife and enjoy the serenity of the open space.
Rudy is survived by his sons, Robert (Louise) and Great Granddaughter, Chrissy of Orem, UT; Wayne of Loveland; Bruce of Ft. Collins, and "adopted son" Dean, of Ft. Collins. He was preceded in death by son, Gary.
Rudy's great smile and larger than life persona will be sorely missed.
Auf Wiedersehen bis spatter Wiedersehen, Rudy
(Good bye and we'll be seeing you later, Rudy)
