Russell Clark

d. Aug 6, 2023

Russell Clark passed away at Columbine Skilled Nursing in Fort Collins, CO on August 6, due to heart failure, Parkinsons, and various other issues. Just like he dealt with all experiences in life, Russ managed his illnesses with strength and grace, and wanted to spend as much time as he could with his family, and his newfound friends and staff at Columbine. On his final day, he was surrounded by family and close friends. His personal humor, personality, and attitude was enjoyed not only by staff, but many residents as well.

Russ was born in Cedar Falls, Iowa, February 27, 1941, the son of Dorothy and Norman Clark. He grew up with his brother, Richard Clark. As a teen, he loved hanging out with his friends at John Rapp's gas station, riding his motorcycle, and drag racing with his friends.

Russ soon became interested in music and learned how to play the guitar. He and his friends formed a band and played many gigs. They, as the Patriots, got their name in the "top 10"hits in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

After graduating from high school, Russ attended Dunwoody Industrial Institute in Minneapolis, Minn. He met the love of his life, Catherine(Cathy) Hall and they were married in 1962. They moved to Cedar Rapids, Iowa where Russ was employed by Collins Rad io. In 1971, they moved to Fort Collins, CO and Russ was employed by Woodward Governor, He enjoyed his early retirement at age 59.

In the meantime, he was gifted by Robert Hall, his father-in-law, a 1924 Model T, which soon became his Passion, and became a member of the Horseless Carriage Club and soon purchased two more model T's and 1910 Buick, and he and Cathy with the help of their friends, put together many tours with the car group, and visited many places and have wonderful memories.

Russ's love for music continued, especially when it came to the BEATLES! He played continuously with his dear friends and son Mike and joined the Guitar Society. He had a close relationship with his friend who was Chet Atkins' nephew, and they created many memories and enjoyed their music. EVERYONE knew of his continuing love of the BEATLES and continually heard him playing their music.

Russ's friends and family knew his loyalty and he was a great husband and father, and enjoyed sharing beers with his many friends. His daughter, Michele, works at an assisted living facility, and was able to provide constant ideas and help. He is survived by his wife, Cathy, of almost 61 years, his son Mike and wife Donna, and daughter Michele and six grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He will truly be missed by all, and we all have a long road to recover from this loss.
