Russell Hansen passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 6th surrounded by loved ones. Russ was born in Bronx, NY and served on the U.S.S Impervious in Vietnam from June 1965 to December 1968 when he had been honorably discharged from the US Navy. This was also the year he met his wife, Mona. They married in 1969. He then joined the LAPD in 1970 and was a police officer there for nearly 2 decades. He started by "walking the beat" and transitioned into office work at the station. Once retired, he, his wife and youngest daughter moved to Colorado. Russ was an amazing and generous man. He could cook, sew, garden and was a master woodworker. He also loved game night with his family and Sunday dinner gatherings at home. He is survived by his three daughters, Deanna, Debbie and Jennifer and has three grandchildren as well as six great-grandchildren. His beloved dog, Tessa, will be adopted by his daughter, Deanna. Russ had elected for his family to have a private celebration of his life.
Instead of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made to the Larimer County Humane Society in Russ's honor.
