Russell (Russ) Noel Legg, 79, of Fort Collins, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, December 28, 2023. Cremation was under the direction of Goes Funeral Care in Fort Collins.
Russ was born in Claremore, Oklahoma, on September 7, 1944 to the parents of Paul Legg and Lois Beck.
After graduating from Woodward High School, Oklahoma in 1962, Russ studied Geography and Public Administration at Oklahoma State University until 1965. He graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a Bachelor of Arts in Geography in 1971 and a Master's in Regional & City Planning in 1973.
After completing his studies, Russ worked for the State of Oklahoma as Director of the State Commission for the Capitol-Medical Center Improvement and Zoning Commission, the City of Oklahoma City as an Associate City Planner, and the Larimer County, Colorado Planning Department in multiple positions until his retirement in April 2013.
Russ served his country in the US Army in the United States Security Agency from 1966 until 1970.
He enjoyed watching his favorite sports teams on TV, putting up the flags of his favorite teams on gameday, taking care of his plants and cats, and enjoying visits from family.
Russ is survived by a sister Judy Lansdown (Legg), numerous nieces and nephews, a son, Phillip Blackburn (Tasha), and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, stepmother Hazel Legg, brother Dean Legg, and long-time life partner, Gary Schott.
A celebration of his life will be done at a later date.
