Ruth A. Amberg

Ruth Amberg passed away peacefully on February 8, 2024.

Ruth was born on September 28, 1923, to Thomas and Maude Skoe in Osseo, Wisconsin. During high school, she played saxophone in the marching band. After graduation, she went to Business School and met the love of her life, Lyle Amberg.

They began their marriage during World War II. One year later, Charles Peter (Chuck) was born. In 1948, son number two came along, Paul Michael. As Lyle flew in the Berlin Airlift, Ruth raised a toddler and baby by herself.

After World War II, in 1952, third son James Howard was born. Then Lyle flew in Korea. Again, Ruth was raising the (three) boys alone.

Ruth had many jobs during her lifetime. A skilled secretary, she worked some of the time and stayed home some of the time. Lyle's military career took them from Wisconsin, Northern California, Illinois, Southern California, France, Nevada, and finally back to Southern California. She was the "glue" that held the family together.

On August 1, 1970, son Paul was killed at Fort Ord Army base in a truck accident. Added to Ruth and Lyle's heartache, Paul's only son was put up for adoption. Joyfully, first grandson Mike came back into her life six years ago.

Ruth and Lyle retired to Los Osos, California, and there, enjoyed living close to son Jim and his family. While there, Lyle passed away.

Ruth then moved to Loma Linda, California, to be close to son Chuck and his family.

Finally, in 2013, Ruth moved to Colorado to be close to her son and his family, including grandson and his family. In 2018, son Jim died of colon cancer.

Ruth knew joy and heartache during her earthly years, and through it all, she stayed strong.
Ruth was predeceased by her husband and two sons. She is survived by her loving son Chuck (Merry), daughter-in-law Teresa, five grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren (their "GG"). Through it all, God is good.
