Shirley Jeanne Fredricks

Shirley Fredricks, 90, left this world 11/8/2014 after having suffered a massive stroke.
She was born in Terre Haute, Indiana, and grew up during the great depression.
She attended Indiana State College and earned a degree in teaching Speech and English.
However, her real passion was acting, so she went to New York and attended the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. She toured nationally with several different productions: "Fatal Weakness", "The First Mrs. Fraser" and "Point of No Return." She also appeared in television and radio commercials.
While at the American Academy, she met her future husband, Bill Fredricks, who was also studying dramatic arts. Bill composed music, sang and played the piano.
They married and had 2 children, and moved to Stamford, Connecticut, where they lived for 37 years.
As the children grew, Shirley had several jobs outside the home, at Lord & Taylor, Jewelry by Jose Grant and Smith Corona.
In 1997, her husband Bill died, and she relocated to Fort Collins, CO to be near to her daughter.
At age 90, she was still very active, driving daily, living independently at home, and refusing any assistance that a cane or walker would have provided.
She loved her pilates classes, attending church, solving puzzles and reading mysteries.
She enjoyed dressing properly. She had an extensive vocabulary and a wonderful voice.
Shirley was a dedicated mother, and is survived by her daughter Wendy "Alison" (Fredricks) Dickson and son Jon Wyndham Fredricks.
She leaves behind 2 grandchildren, Eric William Dickson and Stephanie Nicole Dickson, as well as 2 great grandchildren.
She and her vibrant personality will be greatly missed.
A memorial service will be held at Timberline Church on Wednesday, 11/12 at 1:30 pm.
