Shirley Krempel

Shirley did not want an obituary and had written and discarded more than one for herself. She asked that there be no service or memorial, saying she had outlived the need for all of that. Shirley spent her ninety-five years of life optimistically finding and expressing her own views of, and solutions to, a world that did not often meet her expectations. She often used quotes, mottos or mantras to focus herself but, in 2014 she painted one that expressed her style more broadly; "entre vous, si'l vous plait en moi HORROR VACUII" "(fear of empty space)". Shirley was fun, articulate, stimulating, creative, productive, independent, stubborn, and difficult in her pursuing. We can each remember what she meant to us.
