Shirley Mae (George) Tidd was born on October 23, 1935, in Colony, Kansas. She grew up on the family farm in Neosho Falls, Kansas and was a self-taught seamstress and professional cake decorator. She wed Donald Fred Tidd on October 30, 1955 wearing a beautiful dress she designed and constructed herself and serving an exquisite wedding cake also baked and decorated by her.
The couple had three children while attending Kansas State University in Manhattan, KS. Shirley went on to finish her Home Economics degree in 1987 at Humboldt State University in Arcata, CA graduating Magna Cum Laude.
Shirley was a person who lived her life for the Lord Jesus Christ and for others. She led Bible Study Fellowship classes in Fremont and Eureka, CA and later in Fort Collins, CO where the couple retired. Her greatest joy beyond Jesus was her family and she served them tirelessly.
She was preceded in death by her parents Russell and Marjorie (Compton) George, her husband Donald F. Tidd, her brother Irl George; and her grandson, Matthew Dennis.
Shirley went to be with the Lord on March 21, 2023. She will be greatly missed by her children Bradley and Christina (Wong) Tidd, Brian and Becky (Oman) Tidd, Edward and Dawn (Tidd) Dennis and by her grandchildren, Celestine and Ian Tidd, Luke, Sam, and Andrew Tidd, Grady and Lauren (Dennis) McIntosh, Taryn Dennis and fiancée David Bratnick, and Makayla Dennis and her children Ezra James and Ember Rose.
A memorial service will be held March 29, 2023 at Discovery Fellowship Church at 11:00 AM. Lunch to follow – 6630 Brittany Drive, Fort Collins, CO 80525
