Sidney Michael Joseph, 81, of Fort Collins Colorado, passed away on April 21, 2022 surrounded by his loved ones.
Sidney was born May 11,1940, in New Orleans Louisiana, to his parents Sidney and Ruth Blandchard-Joseph. He was raised in New Orleans and when Sidney was a teenager, the family relocated to Ames,Iowa where he finished High School. He later served in the Navy and attended Des Moines Area Community College, where he earned a Degree in Retail Management.
Sidney met Betty Kimble in New Orleans in 1960. They were married two years later on December 15, 1962 in Ames Iowa. Years later, they moved to Harvey, Illinois with their young daughter for two years, moved back to Ames and then moved to Fort Collins, CO in 1978.
Sidney worked as a custodian for the Poudre School District until his retirement in 2012. He enjoyed his job because it was less stressful and peaceful. He also enjoyed working with staff, interacting with kids, and took the opportunity to connect with them.
Sidney loved music, dancing, hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed playing football for his high school when he was younger and loved watching it on TV. He was a very big fan of the Denver Broncos.
Sidney is preceded in death by his parents, Sidney and Ruth, brothers Nathaniel(Darla), Cedric and Shelton. Sidney is survived by his wife Betty of 60 years, daughters Shalita (Michael) and Shaylyn, grandson Malik, brother Kerry(Beverly) of Lanham, Maryland, and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A celebration of Sidney's life will be held at a later date.
