Stan "The Man" Wilkes
Stan "The Man" Wilkes, 59, of Laporte, CO passed away on April 8, 2017 in Red Feather Lakes, Colorado.
Stan was born in St. Petersburg, Florida on December 29, 1957 to Eddie and Toya Wilkes, and moved to Colorado in 1963.
Stan was married to Sue Johnson on September 2, 1983 at the Mishawaka Inn up the Poudre Canyon. They had 2 children, Justin and Lacee, and 2 grandchildren, Brooklyn and Eriksson.
Stan was a Veteran and served in the United States Air Force from 1975 to 1979. He worked for the US Postal Service as a Rural Carrier, and most recently worked in the Oil Field and was known to many as an "Oil Field Legend". He was an avid fisherman and hunter, who the loved the outdoors. He enjoyed reading, boating, camping, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, whom he loved more than anything. He was an active member of The American Legion and was proud to have served his country.
He is survived by his wife Sue; Children Justin Wilkes and Lacee Wilkes; Grandchildren Brooklyn and Eriksson; Mother Toya Wilkes; Brother Mike Wilkes(Jill), Sister Ginny Brinkman; and his best four legged companion Chloe, as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and many close friends he considered family.
Stan is preceded in death by his father Eddie Wilkes, Uncle Danny Wilkes, Aunt Patty Slay, Grandparents Ira and Ruby Zeigler, Jehu Wilkes and Ella Mae Stambaugh.
Stan was a loving Son, Husband, Father and Grandfather with a true love for life & the Great outdoors. His smile & joking nature could light up a room. We were blessed to have him in our lives & he will forever be in our hearts.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday April 14 at 3:00 at The American Legion Post 4, 2124 County Road 54G Fort Collins, Co 80524.
