Starla Manewal left this earth on January 13, 2010 at the Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland. Her faith and trust in the Lord was an inspiration for all who knew and loved her. Starla was born in Kansas City, Kansas, on March 15, 1950, to Cecil and Darlene Manewal. She lived her life in Fort Collins and graduated from Fort Collins High School. She attended Colorado State University and worked as a secretary at various businesses and churches. She was the sole caretaker of her mother for many years. Starla was a woman of many talents. She sang and played the guitar and piano before many church audiences and her talents delighted the many friends and family members for whom she performed. She wrote many essays, poems, and short stories. She had just finished the first draft of a book and two children's stories that she had hoped to refine for publishing. Starla's core was based around her church community and her belief in God. She opened her house to many people who temporarily needed a place to stay and regroup. In the latter part of her life, she became physically disabled but not in her spirit and faith nor in the belief that God would provide. She was a beloved daughter, niece, cousin and friend. Her parents, Cecil and Darlene Manewal, preceded her in death. She is survived by her aunt, Letha Hurt of Loveland; her first cousins, Jill (Ken) Anderson, Loveland, and Jonna (John) Christensen, Greeley; and several other cousins in Denver, Greeley, California and Illinois, as well as numerous members of her church family. The celebration of her life will be held 1 p.m. on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at Foothills Assembly of God Church in Fort Collins. Please wear bright colored clothing in honor of Starla's bright spirit. Memorial contributions may be made to Foothills Assembly of God Church, for "Star's in Heaven Benevolence Fund"; 305 W. Swallow, Fort Collins, CO 80525.
