Stephen Wayne Mill

Stephen Wayne Mill, age 61, passed away at home in the loving care of his family after a four month battle with pancreatic cancer.
Born May 5th, 1955 in Fort Collins to Edwin and Mary Ann Mill, Stephen grew up on a farm east of Fort Collins. He helped his father and grandfather plant corn, brew barley for Coors and sugar beets. He was very active in 4H, raising and showing market steers with two of his brothers, into the early 70's.
Stephen graduated from Fort Collins High School in 1973 and was awarded an "Honor Scholarship" to attend Northeastern Jr College in Sterling, CO. He graduated with an associate in applied science degree from N.J.C. and moved back to Fort Collins to continue his studies at CSU. During this time, he was introduced to the love of his life, Judy and was married in May of 1977. Colorado State University is where he completed his Bachelor of Science degree in 1979. In 1980 Stephen, along with his brothers Kevin and Andy formed a business partnership; Mill Brothers Landscape and Nursery. In 1990 he received the Bob Cannon award for his longtime commitment, passion and contribution to the landscape industry and ALCC (Associated Landscape Contractors of Colorado).

Stephen is survived by his loving wife Judy of 40 years, a son, Anthony and wife Stephanie, daughter Katherine and husband Ryan, daughter Julianna, as well as his parents, Edwin and Mary Ann Mill, and 4 brothers, Kevin, Andy, Norman and Wayne Mill.

A memorial service has been set for Wednesday, April 12, at 3:00 pm, at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Fort Collins. A small reception at the Knights of Columbus will follow from 4:30 to 7:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you send contributions to either the Stephen W. Mill Family Fund in care of Bank of the West or a Memorial Horticulture Scholarship has been established at Colorado State University in Stephen's memory.
