Stephen Russell Ziegenhagen

Jul 4, 1953 — Oct 21, 2014

Stephen "Steve" Ziegenhagen; affectionately known as "Zieg" 61 of Fort Collins, Colorado died October 21, 2014 at Poudre Valley Hospital. A celebration of Steve's Life will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at American Baptist Church, 600 S Shields St., Ft. Collins. Interment will be in West Lawn Cemetery, Gering, Nebraska.

Stephen Russell Ziegenhagen was born July 4, 1953 in Cheyenne, Wyoming. He grew up in Fort Collins and graduated in 1971 from Poudre High School. After High School, Steve worked as a fire fighter for the U. S. Forest Service in Colorado and Alaska. For the past 20+ years he has worked with his cousin, Rob Shotwell at the Fig Leaf Furniture Store in Fort Collins.

Steve was the guy to call whenever someone needed a hand. He knew how to fix just about anything, and if he didn't know how, he would learn how. Steve was a longtime member of the Northern Colorado Rod and Gun Club and did a stint as a radio show host. Together with his friends Carlos Sala and Paul Martin, he hosted the show called The Revolution on KHNC Radio. He enjoyed putting on, for many years, the Scream Theme Haunted House in the Mall.

Steve was preceded in death by his brother, Jerry Clausen and his mother, Leona Ziegenhagen.

He is survived by his sister, Donna Rickett of North Platte, NE; his brother, Mike Ziegenhagen (and Debby) of San Rafael, CA; his nephew, Devlin Ziegenhagen; his cousin Rob and wife Laura Shotwell, Aunt Dorothy Shotwell, and Aunt Beth Joder of Fort Collins and Aunt Doris Shotwell of Loveland and many other relatives: cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends who loved him from both near and far.
