Steve Dee

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Stephen (Steve) Dee, who departed this life peacefully on July 29, 2026, at the age of 84. Steve was born in 1942 and spent much of his childhood in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. When he was a junior in high school, his family moved to Iowa, where he graduated from Marshalltown High School. Steve was a great athlete and excelled at all sports, especially basketball and football, and he earned a full-ride football scholarship to Morningside College in Sioux City, IA. He graduated from Morningside with a degree in Business Administration and attended one year of law school at Drake University before joining the United States Marine Corps. After graduating from boot camp, he served six years in the Marine Corps Reserves. In 1968, he met his future wife, Gail, in Denver, CO, and they married in 1969. They were blessed with two children, daughter Kim, and son Brett.

Steve spent his professional career as a stock broker and investment advisor, ultimately becoming the branch manager for A.G. Edwards & Sons in Ft. Collins, CO. Steve loved his family and loved the Lord. He served as a long-time, active member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, served as a discussion leader of the Men’s Bible Study Fellowship, and was active in Gideons International. Steve was a very caring man and always giving to others. Steve loved his wife, and he loved his kids and grandkids. He really loved his dogs. He also loved traveling in his Airstream camper, hiking, hunting pheasants and doves, golfing, and telling Dad Jokes.

He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Gail Dee, as well as his children Kim DeLauro and Brett (Jessie) Dee, seven grandchildren (Catherine DeLauro Kane, Nicholas DeLauro, Caroline DeLauro, Rebecca DeLauro, Anthony DeLauro, Elijah Dee, and Hannah Dee), and two great-grandchildren (Alexander Kane and Asher Lackey). He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Helen Dee, his brother Rev. Rick Dee, and sister Linda Dee.

A memorial service will be held on September 9, 2026 at 10:30-11:30 am with reception to follow at:
