Sue David

Sue David, of Fort Collins, Colorado died on November 1 at age 84. She was a long-time resident of Stanton before moving to assisted living in Grand Rapids in 2018, and to Colorado in 2023.

Sue worked at Electrolux for 40 years and was the long-time Financial Secretary of United Auto Workers Local 137. She was a member of the Council of Labor Union Women, the UAW Community Action Program, and the Montcalm County Democratic Party.

She was born to Norman and Amy (Andrus) Reed in Shiocton, Wisconsin. Sue was the youngest of eight children.

Married in 1959 to John (Jack) David, they had two children: Jacki and John. Jack's service in the US Coast Guard caused them to move around the Great Lakes states and the East Coast. They were divorced in 1969.

She faced a series of health problems stemming from joint replacement surgery in 2010 that became increasingly challenging.

In better days, Sue enjoyed traveling, creating stained glass, frequently having a 'remodeling' project going on her house, ice cream, cheering on the Green Bay Packers and the MSU Spartans, bike riding and a good margarita with sisters or friends.

She was predeceased by both parents, several siblings, her most spoiled dog Lolli, and beloved and greatly missed son, John.

Sue is survived by daughter Jacki and son-in-law Blake Miller, of Fort Collins, CO; grandson Blake John and wife Naomi, and children Isaiah, Sam and Olive of Kentwood; grandson Evan and former wife Trina, and children Mackenzie and CJ of Lansing; and granddaughter Kelli and husband Luis, and children Miguel, Emily, Catalina, Layla, Leo and Abel of Lansing; sister Arlene (Tooty) of Tullahoma, TN; and sister June of Random Lake, WI.

Thanks for your love, kindness and support to several friends: Cactus, Mary, Marta, Penny, Jackie G., Cheryl H. (RIP), and Barb McC. Sincere thanks to the staff at Pathways Hospice who cared for Sue.

No services will be held, per her wishes. Goes Funeral Care, in Fort Collins, handled Sue's arrangements. Memorial donations to the Alzheimer's Association are appreciated.
