Thelma Rose Lucas

Dec 17, 1933 — Sep 11, 2017

Thelma Rose (Faraoni) Lucas, age 83, of Fort Collins, CO entered life eternal on Monday, September 11, 2017 at Poudre Valley Hospital, Fort Collins. She was born in Ellwood City, PA on December 17, 1933 to Monfredo and Eula (Chaffin) Faraoni.

Thelma was united in marriage with Norman Fred Lucas on October 4, 1952. After their marriage, Thelma and Norman resided in the Detroit area for over thirty years, where they raised five children, before moving to Wauneta, NE.

Thelma worked as a home healthcare provider and owned and operated a caterering business. Among many things, she will be remembered for her generous and healing heart, her sparkle, her humor, her gift for telling stories and jokes, her amazing cooking talents, and her bold and flashy fashion sense. Although she was allergic to all things relating to exercise, she was often found outdoors, enjoying a breath of fresh air.

But most of all, Thelma was a servant of Christ, giving all glory to God. Over the years, Thelma was active in her church in numerous aspects, including teaching Vacation Bible School, leading youth groups, and attending youth group retreats, where hundreds of other people's children all called her "Mom."

She was preceded in death by her husband, Norm; two brothers, Dominic and Fred; and a sister, Mary Jane.

Thelma is survived by two sons, James and wife Carol of Collinsvile, IL, and Mark and wife Cindy of Newport, MI; three daughters, Kathleen and husband Lloyd of Fort Collins, CO, Laurie and husband Kevin of Wauneta, NE, and Jenna and husband Bill of Omaha, NE; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 on Friday, September 15, 2017 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, located at 7755 Greenstone Trail, Fort Collins, CO. An additional Memorial Service and Inurnment Ceremony will take place in Wauneta, NE at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, Thelma requested donations be made to Mercy Meals of Southwest, NE. www.mercymealsofsouthwestnebraska.org .
