Theresa Vandenberg, age 91, of Fort Collins, Colorado died September 17, 2021 at her home.
Terry was born in Denver, where her family lived near the colosseum in the Globeville neighborhood. She graduated from Cathedral High School in 1947. While living in Denver, she worked in the Republic Building and also at Cody Dental as a dental assistant.
On December 1, 1956, Theresa was married to Robert Vandenberg at St. Joseph Polish Church in Denver. Then, in 1970, they relocated to Fort Collins, where Bob worked at CSU.
Terry was very involved at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Fort Collins. She began as a volunteer and then in 1986 worked as the receptionist until retiring in 2002. Bob and Terry also enjoyed square dancing, skiing, and fishing together. They raised three children, which she claimed as her greatest achievement.
Terry is survived by her children, Bruce Vandenberg of Fort Collins, Sheila (and Keith) McClune of Aurora, and Glenn Vandenberg of Littleton; and five grandchildren, Devon, Serena, Gwen, Taryn and Marisa. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Peter Vandenberg, who died last year on their 64th wedding anniversary. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Julia Ponikvar and Valeria Bauer.
Private services will be held on September 21, 2021 and will be streamed live online for others to join from home. Recitation of the Holy Rosary beginning at 1:30 pm, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 2:00 pm, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Fort Collins. Private burial will take place at a later date at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery in Wheat Ridge, CO.
