Thomas "Tom" Evans, 90 of Fort Collins, Colorado died February 3, 2013 at Poudre Valley Hospital. Recitation of the Rosary will be held at 10:30 AM Thursday, February 7th with Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM Thursday at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 5450 South Lemay Ave., Ft. Collins. Interment, Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Wheat Ridge, CO.

Thomas Culbertson Evans was born August 29, 1922 in Toledo, Ohio to Thomas and Lulu Evans. His family moved to Colorado, Utah and Idaho in his youth. He enlisted and was an officer in the U. S. Navy during WWII serving mostly in the Pacific Theater, specifically on the Island of Guam. After the war, he graduated from the University of Idaho in Pocatello with a degree in Forestry. He dedicated his entire career to the U. S. Forest Service. In 1952, Tom married Twila Benedick at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Denver.

With the Forest Service, Tom moved his family throughout Colorado settling in Glenwood Springs. His last duty was Supervisor of the White River National Forest, the largest national forest in Colorado. Tom was a lifetime member of the Society of American Foresters as well as an Honorary Alumnus of the College of Forestry and Natural Resources at CSU.

After retiring in 1980, Tom enjoyed his time volunteering at Glen Valley Nursing Home in Glenwood Springs and spending as much time as he could at the hot springs pool. In 1996, Tom and Twila moved to Fort Collins from Glenwood Springs. He busied himself at Poudre Valley Hospital's Aspen Club and sharing his knowledge of Colorado with others at the Colorado Welcome Center. Over the years, Tom enjoyed fishing and skiing and just being outdoors. He was a long-time member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Ft. Collins.

He is survived by his wife, Twila; son, Thomas M. (Valerie) Evans of Sedalia, CO; two daughters, Kathleen M. (Arthur) Phillips of Centennial, CO and Patricia Anne Evans of Fort Collins; six grandchildren; five-and-a-half great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Lou Morgenstern, his brother, David Evans and a great-grandson.
