Thomas James Teters (Tom) was born on June 23, 1952, to James and Pat Teters in Palmer, Alaska. He grew up in Palmer, Alaska; Billings, MT; Fremont, OH; and Mitchell, Nebraska. He graduated from Mitchell High School in 1971. One of his proudest High School moments was when he made a defensive touchdown in a game against Gering, Nebraska. After the touchdown he found the sidelines and promptly passed out. Tom attended college at Western Nebraska Junior College and Northern Arizona University.
Tom worked as a surveyor in Nebraska, Nevada, and Colorado. His real passion, however, was studying astronomy and viewing stars with one of the many telescopes he made or purchased over the years. He could often be found at Star Parties viewing the heavens and socializing with like-minded individuals. He once submitted a project to be used on the Hubble Space Telescope, but it did not make the final cut.
Tom is survived by son Jason Teters and grandsons, Ian and Adian Teters of Sidney, NE; brother Rick Teters and friend Barb Labruska of Mitchell, NE; Bob Teters (Sara) of Mullen, NE; and Kris (John) Nelms of Douglas, WY; 4 nieces, 2 nephews; and 1 cousin Nona Siegel, all of whom he loved deeply. Tom was preceded in death by his mother, Nadine (Pat) Teters and his father James Percy Teters.
