Timothy F. Roberts

d. Jan 10, 2020

Service update: Tim's Celebration of Life will be held on March 7 from 10am - 12pm at Avogadro's Number in Fort Collins. Anyone who knew Tim is invited to come share fond memories and any of his "eye-rolling" jokes. Breakfast and coffee will be provided. Tim was never one for tradition, so his family is asking people to come dressed in bright colors or your favorite tie-dye shirt.

Throughout his life, Tim Roberts was a great many things—a rascal of a son, perhaps also a rascal of a husband, an animated and loving father, a brother, a highly over-educated construction worker, an unbelievably dedicated educator, a rough and tumble hockey player, a teller of colorful jokes, a taker of long road trips with not enough stops, an appreciator of music, especially rock and roll, a rescue dog lover, a proud Cornish gent and so much more. At his core, though, he was an empath. He may never have escaped the grief and loss from his own life but he found solace by recognizing this in others. He sought authentic connection to everyone he met. He elevated everyday interactions into something extraordinary; unrelentless until you were laughing, always with him and frequently at him—that didn't matter. Tim had a particularly strong connection with troubled youth which drove him to become a high school teacher in Poudre School District. His work is now his legacy. We are surrounded by countless young people whose now adult lives were forever altered by Tim's belief in their value and their abilities. Over the last few years, dementia robbed both he and his family of a great many things. But it never came close to taking him. His desire to connect, share a laugh and live a life well lived carried him and all who loved him through until the very end. Tim Roberts passed on January 10, 2020. He is survived by his wife Cathy, his daughters, Jennifer and Jessica, his sister Carole Olver, his brother Steve Rossel, his many extended family members and his near and far friends. He was preceded in death by his infant son, Justin Scott, his mother Margaret (Peg) Rossel, and his father Frederic George Roberts.

In lieu of flowers, the family would welcome donations to be made in Tim's name to Turning Point, an organization dedicated to helping youth struggling with behavior, mental health, and/or addiction.
