Tiawana J. Scott

Tiawana Jean Scott, 86, passed peacefully in her sleep on September 10, 2026, following a decline in her health due to dementia. She was born on April 27, 1940, in Stockton, Missouri, to Dick Cyrus Perry Sullivan and Vivian (Hoel) Sullivan. Although born in Missouri, Tiawana spent most of her adult life in Boulder, Colorado, where she built a life filled with family, friends, hard work, and a lasting legacy.

Tiawana was a trailblazer in her profession. She was one of the first licensed women barbers in the state of Colorado and proudly owned and operated her own business, Ty Scott International. She spent more than 50 years cutting hair and serving generations of clients. Her skill, independence, and dedication to her craft were an important part of who she was and the legacy she leaves behind.

Tiawana also proudly served her country in the United States Marine Corps, attaining the rank of Private First Class. She served from December 1958 through December 1959. Tiawana completed her high school education and went on to create a life defined by determination, independence, and service. She will be remembered by those who knew her for the life she built, the people she touched, and the many years she devoted to her family and her work.

She is survived by her sons, Perry McNeece and Michael E. Scott; her sisters, Dixie Wilburn, Darlene Boswell, and Arlene Moomaw; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dick Cyrus Perry Sullivan and Vivian (Hoel) Sullivan; her husband, Richard Scott; her sons, Franklin McNeece and Shane Scott; and her brother, George Sullivan.

A memorial service celebrating Tiawana's life will be held at Goes Funeral Care and Crematorium, 3665 Canal Drive, Unit E, Fort Collins, Colorado, on Friday, September 18, 2026, at 11:00 a.m.

Tiawana's life was one of perseverance, independence, service, and dedication. Her legacy will live on through her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sisters, and all those whose lives she touched throughout her 86 years.
