Vera M. Gossel, age 91, of Fort Collins, Colorado, died February 12, 2008. Cremation is planned and her ashes will be buried with those of her husband, in the Bridgewater Cemetery later this year. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 PM Wednesday, February 20th at Goes Funeral Care, 3665 Canal Drive, Suite E, Fort Collins, CO. Another service will be held at 7:00 PM, Saturday, February 23rd at Kinzley Funeral Home in Salem, SD. Vera Zemke was born September 3, 1916 in Bridgewater, South Dakota to Henry and Katie Zemke. She grew up in Bridgewater and spent most of her life there as well. Vera was a member of Our Saviour?s Lutheran Church, belonged to the WELCA Circle; the Funeral and Wedding committee; and also did volunteer mailings and was a member of the Moose Lodge Women #273. Vera married Alvin Gossell on September 30, 1937 in Salem, SD. They loved to dance and entertain at the Luther Manor. She loved to sew and be creative. She baked cakes for 30 years having worked in kitchens, other than her own, that include Beresford, as a house mother, and also in the café in Bartslow case in Spencer. She also did child care for many years. In the last years, Vera enjoyed attending and watching her grandson, Bryan race his Sprint car with all her family. And checking the Rocky Mountains to make sure they were still there and had not moved and the great sun sets and cook outs. And just enjoying LIFE to its greatest with that winning smile. Vera was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and her brothers, Herman and Lloyd Zemke. She is survived by her two sons, Jerome R. Gossel of Bozeman, Montana and Jerald D. Gossel of Fort Collins, CO; three grandchildren Bryan Marc and Amanda Gossel; three great grandchildren Lane, Madysen, Austyn Gossel ; her sister, Elsie Waby of Sioux Falls, SD; and her brother Lloyd Zemke of Arco, Idaho; daughters-in-law, Cendi, wife of Bryan and Heather, wife of Marc; and ?daughters in spirit? Shirley McCormick, Pat Kayser, Aimee Carls, Crisse McCormick, Rebecca Kayser and Kasey Vartels of Sioux Falls, SD.
