Vickie Sue Stephens, 61, of Wellington, Colorado, died January 13, 2019.
Vickie was born in California on September 23, 1957 to parents Shirley and Harold Holland. Her family soon made the move to the Amarillo, Texas area, where she grew up, one of three sisters. She graduated from Caprock High School.
Vickie found joy in life, especially in her family, and she was especially proud of her daughter, Heather and granddaughters, Kena and Sue.
In 2003, Vickie moved to Fort Collins with Thomas Stephens and on August 14, 2007, the two were married. Colorado was a good fit for her love of the outdoors and her sense of adventure. She and Tom spent time camping, fishing, and snowboarding; she even taught him to ride motorcycles.
Vickie was always outgoing, with a smile that would brighten any room. Her laugh is the first thing people remember about her. Even through the pain of her illness, she found the energy to smile and cheer those around her. It's that smile that will stay in the hearts of those she left behind.
Vickie is survived by her husband, Tom Stephens of Wellington, CO; daughter, Heather Fessler and granddaughters, Kena and Sue Freeman of Borger, TX; mother, Shirley Riggins, stepdad Harry Riggins, of Amarillo, TX; and sister, Sheila Back and husband Tony Back of Seattle, WA. She was preceded in death by her father, Harold Holland and sister, Crystal Riggins.
A service is not planned at this time, but Vickie would want everyone reading this to simply enjoy life in her memory.
