Virginia "Joan" Cassone, 83, of Fort Collins, CO, passed away May 1, 2025. Joan was born on January 8, 1942, to Mary Ann (Tekely) and Cyril P. Pollock, at her grandmother's home in the small town of One Mile Run, Pennsylvania. She grew up in Niagara Falls, and moved to North Tonawanda, NY at 15 years old, where she graduated from North Tonawanda High School.
On September 26, 1963, Joan married Joseph A. Cassone in Detroit, Michigan. They moved to California before landing in Colorado. Joan retired from being a Bookkeeper for Poudre School District and stayed in Fort Collins. She enjoyed dancing, caring for her daughter Tricia who needed additional assistance and care, and was a very devout Catholic.
Joan is survived by her children, Joseph A. Jr. (Melanie) Cassone, Arkansas, Annette M. Cassone, Wellington, CO and Tricia L. Cassone, Fort Collins, CO; siblings, James (Kathy) Pollock, Sharon Pollock, and Tina D'Arcy. She is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Cassone, parents Mary Ann and Cyril Pollock; siblings, Donald Pollock, Deborah Caradonna, and Lorraine Fockler; sister-in-law Ellen Gehring and brother-in-laws Keo D'Arcy and David Fockler.
Joan's cremains will be interred at Roselawn Cemetery, Fort Collins. Service information and interment details to be determined. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Special Olympics of Colorado in memory of Joan.
