Virginia Sue Kraus

d. Nov 21, 2020

Sue will be remembered as a loving wife, a wonderful mother, a cherished grandmother, a beloved great grandmother, a sweet sister, a friend to many and a faithful servant to our Lord. She passed away peacefully at home on November 21, 2020 with her husband by her side.

Born April 6, 1934 in St. Louis, MO, she enjoyed her youth with 5 brothers. She married the love of her life, Edwin Kraus on Jan. 29, 1955. They started their family right away with twins being born in Dec. 1955. They were a growing Air Force family and enjoyed homes in Houston, TX, Smyrna, TN, Edmonton, CANADA, Teanick, NJ, St. Louis, MO (While Ed was deployed to Viet Nam), Anchorage, AK, and Abilene, TX. After Ed retired in 1990, they moved to Fort Collins, CO in 1991.

No matter where she lived, Sue was always involved with the church and activities with the children. She helped start a program at Elmendorf Air Force Base in AK for Children without Grandparents where they partnered the elderly with families on base. She and Ed served on many Parish Councils throughout their lives.

During her many years in Fort Collins, Sue was involved with The Mission Fort Collins for several years. She was involved with Bible Studies, Bridge, and Mahjong groups and her church family at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton. She loved planning Family Reunions and visiting with her 6 children and their families. She was an avid card game player with her family, and they report that she always won at "May I?"

Sue was preceded in death by her son, Lawrence Kraus and two of her brothers, Bill and Jim Compas. She is survived by her loving husband, Ed, of 65 years, and her children, Laurie (Lee) Schutze, Daughter-in-law Cara (Kurt) Pilgrim, Mary (Steve) Kowalski, Margaret Brown, Ed (Angie) Kraus, John (Cynthia) Kraus, grandchildren Steven (Ally) Pragovich, Elizabeth (John) Oldham, Anthony (Corinne) Pragovich, Amy Kraus, Amanda (Ben) Brown, Ashley Brown, Alex McConnell, Sarah (Sean) Quinn, Aaron Kraus, Nathan Kraus and Ryan Kraus. Her great grandchildren are Jada Joiner, Landon and Evelyn Ryan, Mason and Madeline Oldham, Shae Pragovich, and Ace Pragovich. She is also survived by her brothers George, John (Sharon), and Joe (Pat) along with 2 sisters-in-law Pat Compas and Marion Compas and many nephews and nieces.

Memorial gifts may be made to Catholic Charities of Larimer County or The Food Bank of Larimer County.
