Vitalia "Vita" Jaramillo

Apr 1, 1936 — Dec 6, 2024

Vitalia "Vita" Jaramillo passed away peacefully on December 6th, 2024 at her home in Fort Collins, surrounded by loved ones. For 5 years, Vita fought a long and courageous battle with dementia with the support of her loving, and large, family.

Vita was born on April 1st, 1936 in Abiquiú, New Mexico to David and Dolores Martinez. In 1949, Vita met her soon-to-be husband, Emejidio, who she married shortly after, in 1950. Together, they both raised ten children until Emejidio's passing in 1979.

In addition to caring for her family, Vita also loved caring for the elderly as a health nurse. She enjoyed traveling back and forth between Salt Lake City and New Mexico visiting family and loved ones. Vita loved reading and watching Westerns and animal shows. She also loved puzzle and word search games, knitting, and – in her youth – she was an avid dancer.

Despite injuries and disabilities throughout the years, Vita continued to care for herself, her children, and later, her grandchildren. Family was the most important thing in Vita's life, and that was evident every single day, through her actions and her love. In 2004, Vita moved to Fort Collins, CO to find better opportunities for herself, her youngest daughter, Veronica and her grandchild. Vita ultimately stayed in Fort Collins to be cared for by her family that she had so lovingly cared for her whole life.

Vita is predeceased by her husband, Emejidio, her mother and father, David and Dolores, her siblings, Albert, Joe, Margaret, Noberto, Pauline, and Isabel, and her grandchild, Gerry.

Vita is survived by her loving children, Geronimo "Gerry" (Shawnna), Maria (Larry), Marc, Al (Rita), Gloria, Herman (Cindy), Epifano, Ben (Heather), Lorine (Darryl), and Veronica (Mark), as well as 30+ grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
