Wade Robert Baker, age 33, of Fort Collins, Colorado, passed from this life on October 20, 2022 in Steubenville, Ohio, where he was attending Franciscan University.
Wade was born on April 9, 1989 in Omaha, Nebraska to parents Kevin and Kathy Baker. Just a few years later, the family relocated to Fort Collins, Colorado, where he grew up and graduated from Rocky Mountain High School. After high school, Wade worked for his father's business, Access Printer Supplies before attending Front Range Community College. His rekindled Catholic faith then led him to enroll at Franciscan University of Steubenville where he was studying history. Wade's faith was important to him. He enjoyed Bible studies at St. John XXIII in Fort Collins and connecting with the Catholic community at Franciscan University during his time there.
Wade was a kind and gentle person that had a pure spirit. His greatest love was his family, his friends and his faith. Wade also cherished the family dogs throughout the years and would often be found on the floor cuddling them. Since learning the trombone in junior high school, Wade had a love of music, especially ska. He had an intellectual curiosity and philosophic mind that enjoyed learning about the human mind and how it interacts with the world. He also had a passion for history and was an expert in WWII and political theory. Wade loved movies, from Marvel movies showing in the theater to the old cult classics of decades past like the original Star Wars. Wade was an avid gamer and reader with Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Wheel of Time, and Stormlight Archive among his favorites. He was always ready to tell you the backstory of every character in the books and games that he loved.
Wade's absence is felt deeply by those closest to him. He had an especially strong bond with his brother Luke and his tight-knit group of friends, who will hold his memory close.
Wade is survived by his parents, Kevin and Kathy Baker; sister, Kari (Dave) Staples; brother Luke (Ellie) Baker; nieces & nephews, which he fondly called his niblings, Jacob, Baker, Beau, Ancilla, Peter, George, Zelie and godson Rocco; and many aunts, uncles, extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert and Frances Baker, and Gregory and Patricia Weiss.
The viewing and Rosary will be held at 9:30 am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am on Thursday, November 3, 2022 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Fort Collins. Following a luncheon at the church, interment will take place at Resthaven Memory Gardens in Fort Collins. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Marisol Health for Northern Colorado:
