Walter Ross Davenport

A lover of fast cars and motorcycles, Walter Ross Davenport (56), of Fort Collins passed away on February 25; he defied the odds of his "terminal" heart condition by living life to the fullest, extending his two-week prognosis to two years. And, within the last two years of his life, Walter embarked on a journey to renovate his home for his wife and childhood sweetheart Dr. Elizabeth Warson and their 14-year-old son Garrison Davenport, while engaging in frequent rounds of "motorcycle therapy" with his best friend and brother David Davenport. Walter was knows as having an affinity for the flower of life and repeated this motif in his bold "glass-like" paintings, emblematic of the dimensions of his life and consciousness. Walter reinvented himself from a rebellious teen to an airman in the 388th and 32d Tactical Fighter Wing and later as a contractor of 3 different painting and technical coating companies, demonstrating tremendous resilience in his youth and proficiency as an adult with a multitude of technical and creative endeavors. Walter jokingly referred to himself as a "house healer" vs. contractor as he channeled his positive energy "with every brush stroke." Walter is survived by his loving mother Donna Davenport, "twin" sister Deb Davenport, "bro" David Davenport (Shari), and his "lucky" sister Kristi Rosas (Andy), as well as numerous nephews, a niece, cousins, aunts, uncles and in-laws. Walter is preceded in death by his father Walter Lee Davenport, Doberman Pinschers Nitro and Auggie as well as his black "feral kitty" Scooter.
