Wesley Glass

Wesley Wayne Glass, age 83, was born to Simeon Ezra Glass and Ruth Stroud Glass on April 5, 1940 in Worland, Wyoming. He was welcomed into the family by four siblings, Jerry, Stanley, Quinten and Peg. He took the hand of Jesus to walk with him to heaven on July 4, 2023.

He graduated from Worland High School in 1958 and attended the University of Wyoming in Laramie and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts with a major in Math and a minor in Statistics on June 1, 1964. He worked as a statistician collecting and analyzing data for the Wyoming Department of Labor until he retired in 1985.

He married Marilyn "Kay" Johnson in 1963. Two children joined the family, Michael James Glass 1966 and Megan Elisabeth Glass (White) 1968. Wes and Kay were married for 24 years until her death in 1987. Wes remarried Shirley McCay in April 1992. To this union 3 grown children were added, Dakotah Martin, Erich Hostetler and Sheri Fender.

Growing up Wes' family were Baptists and he accepted the Lord at the age of 17. He was an active member of the Vineyard Church in Loveland and helped around the church for many years until his illness and Covid. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He and Shirley took many enjoyable trips in their motorhome to family reunions with two of his siblings and their spouses. They also traveled to class reunions in Worland, and trips to Yellowstone with grandchildren. Wes and Shirley enjoyed a cruise in 2017 to celebrate their 25th Wedding Anniversary.

Wes enjoyed antique cars, woodwork and electrical projects, and playing games. He made the best pies, especially peach, and loved his chocolate chip cookies and ice cream.

Wes suffered a stroke in 2018 that affected his eyesight so he had to give up driving. He was later diagnosed in 2019 with the early stages of vascular dementia. After he survived a long hospital stay with Covid in 2022 he entered a Greeley, CO memory care facility in late August 2022. While at Fairacres Manor he would come out of his room several times at night asking for Miss Shirley and getting some ice cream and Coke. His daughter, Sheri, brought him a six-pack of Coke every weekend when she visited him.

Wes was predeceased by his parents and all of his siblings. He is survived by his wife, Shirley, Sister-in-law, Bonnie Glass of Berthoud, Colorado and Brother-in-law Jack Busler of Tempe, Arizona. His children, Megan (Joey) White, Mike (Mary) Glass, Dakotah Martin, Erich Hostetler, and Sheri (Gene) Fender as well as all 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter. Many nieces and nephews and their families and many close friends over the years who contributed to many happy times together.

We wish to thank Fairacres Manor and Bristol Hospice for their extraordinary care of Wesley over the last year and the last week of his life.
