Bill Chilton, 81, died peacefully on February 21, 2010. He was born on February 9, 1929 in Decatur, Ill to Ovalla (Snyder) and Harry Chilton. He married his high school sweetheart, Barbara, on December 31, 1948 in Atwood, Ill. He worked in the shoe repair business in Fairbury, Ill until they moved to Fort Collins in 1960. He owned and operated the Village Shoe Shoppe until 1974 and finished his career in the sporting goods business. In his retirement he worked for the City of Fort Collins supervising athletic events for children. As a Crossing Guard at several elementary schools, he was known as "Mr. Bill" to many children. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and was an avid fisherman. He is survived by his wife, Barbara and six daughters. Jan (Gary) McCurdy, Judy (David) Conarroe, Jennifer (Dan) Enewold, Joyce (Paul) Lindquist, Janine (John) Faust, and Jerilyn (Marty) Nieslanik. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren; Casey McCurdy, Jeff and Andy Conarroe, Jason, Taira and Bryce Enewold, Billy, Sarah, and Becca Lindquist, Teran and Aidan Faust, and Parker and Johnny Nieslanik. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 on Friday, February 26, 2010 at Westminister Presbyterian Church. Memorial contributions can be made to Westminister Presbyterian Church or Pathways Hospice.
