Mr. William Joseph "Bill" Dieter, age 97, passed away peacefully at home on Memorial Day, May 25, 2015, in Fort Collins, Colorado.
Bill was born September 4, 1917 to Julian and Bertha (Ory) Dieter in Naperville, Illinois. He worked in the electrical trade, and attended North Central College, before joining the Army Air Corps in 1942. His 95th Air Service Squadron served in England during WWII. While there, he met the love of his life Irene Anderson Hall. They married and, though separated as D-Day approached, were reunited back in the states after the war, where Bill met his daughter Heather for the first time. Bill and Irene settled in Naperville, IL to raise their children Heather, Laurie and William "Bill" Jr.
Following his retirement from DuPage Precision Products, he and Irene joined their daughter Heather in Fort Collins, CO.
Bill was somewhat of a Renaissance man, with a creative and inventive mind. His many skills included precision machining, and all of the building trades. Other activities he enjoyed were fine woodworking, playing the organ, creating works of art with stained glass, and making endless labor saving devices wherever he went. He read, wrote, memorized and often quoted poetry. His taste in music ranged from country to classical. Bill constantly brought people joy with his witty sense of humor.
Bill is survived by daughters Heather Bartmann and Laurie (John) Stout, seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife Irene, His son "Bill" Jr. and brothers "Jay, "Bert" and "Bob".
