William "Bill" Miller

d. Aug 3, 2024

William (Bill) Miller passed away Saturday, August 3rd, 2024. He leaves behind Karen, his spouse, partner and companion for fifty years. Bill and Karen supported and completed one another.

Bill was the oldest of the three Miller brothers: Bill, Jerry and Rick. Their mother, Echo Belle Miller, remarried after divorcing and produced two half brothers, Douglas Howard Jossart (deceased) and Jon Marc Jossart. The family landed in Tucson, Arizona in the early 1960's. All three of the Miller brothers graduated from Tucson High School. Bill subsequently graduated from Caltech and received his Master's Degree in Computer Science from the University of Wisconsin in Madison.

Bill returned to California after working for computer manufacturer, Burroughs Corporation, in Detroit. He worked for consulting firm Touche Ross and then branched out on his own. He specialized in Materials Requirement Planning (MRP). He authored books on management and manufacturing with others and by himself.

Bill's younger brother, Rick, followed in Bill's footsteps attending the University of Wisconsin and earning a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science. Bill sponsored Rick as a summer intern at Burroughs Corporation. Bill and Rick became close friends when they shared an apartment three summers in Detroit.

For twenty years the brothers met in September in British Columbia, Canada, to play golf at the resorts in the area. This became MAGT, the Miller Annual Golf Tour! Matching caps and T-shirts were part of the tradition. Bill aged out of MAGT but the brothers kept in touch with each other via phone calls and e-mails. Parkinson's took its toll making calls and e-mails difficult.

Bill's brothers all have wonderful memories of Bill. He will be remembered and honored as the caring, kind and generous person that he was.
