Wilma Kemp

Wilma Arlene Kemp "Billie" 83 passed away on April 30th. Wilma was born in Desloge Missouri on September 27th, 1926 to Lewis Cole Shannon and Anna Belle Shannon. She was born and raised in Flat River, Missouri and graduated from High school there. Wilma had many fond memories of her childhood with her five siblings. She always missed her mother who passed away when she was very young. They will have a lot of catching up to do now. Wilma met Lee Kemp at a roller rink in Saint Louis while she was working at a Bible company and he was stationed at Scott Field in Illinois. They fell in love and were married in Fort Collins in 1945. They raised two sons – Robert and Raymond. They lived in Illinois, Colorado, California, Utah and Arizona. In 1998, they moved back to Colorado to be close to their family. Wilma's primary occupation was that of homemaker but sometimes she worked for the IRS. While in Layton Utah, she discovered her talent for oil painting and sketching. She taught painting and was periodically commissioned to do commercial murals. She was a perfectionist for detail in her landscapes and portraits. Wilma was a devoted wife, sister, daughter, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She always kept and cherished her friendships.. Wilma is preceded in death by her husband Lee Kemp, her Father, Mother, Stepmother Bessie, sister Annabelle Hickithier, sister Geraldine Detring, brother Leroy Shannon, brother Robert Shannon, brother Cole Shannon and her beloved Grandson, Kadar Kemp Wilma is survived by her son Raymond and wife Bonnie Kemp of Fort Collins, her son, Robert and wife Patricia Kemp in Elbert, Colorado, her Sister Betty Carr, brother John Shannon - wife Rose, eight grand children : Amy Butler- husband Matt, Kimberly Blunck – husband Travis, Sarah Hirsch – husband Caleb, Sean Kemp – wife Aneke, Brian Kemp, Stephen Kemp, Abraham Kemp and Jacob Kemp as well as Kadar's widow, Joann – husband Brad. . She is also survived by eight great grandchildren, Tryston, Haylie, Kolby, Alisa, Kadar, Shannon, Michael, Taira and Logan.
